STORM - Integrating Seasonal Thermal Energy Storage in the Mediterranean Region
The Royal Scientific Society (RSS) is excited to announce the launch of the STORM Project – Integrating Seasonal Thermal Energy Storage in the Mediterranean Region, co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT MED Programme.
The three-year project brings together seven partners from Lebanon, Jordan, Cyprus, Italy, and Spain to unlock the potential of seasonal thermal energy storage in the Mediterranean and advocate for sustainable, energy-efficient models for heating and cooling.
STORM aims to:
✅ Demonstrate and validate seasonal borehole and tank thermal energy storage technologies in Mediterranean settings.
✅ Increase the energy efficiency of Mediterranean buildings and reduce dependence on fossil fuels for heating and cooling.
✅ Build knowledge, tools, and policy support for wider uptake of seasonal thermal energy storage technologies across the region.
✅ Raise awareness on the benefits and usage of seasonal thermal energy storage in the Mediterranean communities.
